About ESE

Equal Student Exchange (ESE) is a volunteer-based student network which provides free information about student exchange and study overseas opportunities.

Focusing on providing information to students from developing countries, ESE acknowledges the financial and organisational obstacles these students must often come to face. It is the belief of ESE that both universities and students can benefit through international engagement. A more culturally diverse range of international students will contribute to the continued exchange of knowledge, ideas and culture between different universities and countries.

The volunteers of ESE recognize the importance of establishing enduring educational, cultural and professional links through student exchange.

STUDY IN GERMANY (POSTGRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES):
After listening to your feedback and requests from many other ESE members we have decided to take a closer look at the many opportunities available for students from developing countries hoping to study in Germany.

Within this post Equal Student Exchange focuses on the many programs within the DAAD Framework. DAAD or Deutcscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst is the German Academic Exchange Service Organisation. DAAD is the largest funding organisation in the world supporting the international exchange of students and scholars. As an organisation which works with many German institutions of higher education and student bodies, DAAD provides a wide range of scholarships

It also goes far beyond simply awarding grants and scholarships. DAAD also works to internationalize German Universities and export German language and cultural understanding. Furthermore DAAD has worked towards assisting developing countries in establishing effective universities and advises decision makers on matters of cultural, education and development policy.

While the majority of DAAD past scholarship/award winners have been from the United States, DAAD may be focusing towards strengthening the U.S.-German relationship through supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate exchange programs. However, there are also some postgraduate opportunities for students from developing countries:

The scholarships offered by DAAD for the programmes Postgraduate Courses with special relevance to Developing Countries are provided by the Federal Ministry for economic Co-operation and Development.
These degree courses, which consist of one to two years of concentrated study, provide academically-trained young professionals in first leading positions from developing countries with the opportunity to engage in postgraduate education and training in their particular field or profession.

Within this program is the MIPLC (Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre) as well as a number of other partner German institutions.

For those interested in German language, culture and work opportunities you may find the Goethe Institute worth visiting:

For those interested in studying fine arts, music, dance and architecture:

For much more useful information about study in Germany and particularly in Berlin, visit the Studentenwerk Berlin. The network has been designed to assist students with their particular problems and to answer their questions relating to a number of areas:
·         Dining facilities
·         Housing
·         Counselling and support
·         Employment agencies
·         Finances
·         Child health care
·         Campus culture
·         Scholarships and funding

If there is any additional information which you feel is missing or any information which you would like us to provide feel free to leave a comment.  We will continue to update this post based on your feedback.

  3. Dear Mas Dimas,

This was a question also asked on Shiksha.com. Follow this link to the discussion thread: (http://ask.shiksha.com/i-am-electronics-instrumentation-student-want-to-do-masters-in-germany-qna-1907311)

If you are interested in Electronics and Instrumentation for your Masters (S2) here is a good answer from user MSK70515 Chief Advisor from Shiksha.com.

    Hi,

Germany is one of the finest study destination to pursue masters in electronics and related fields, a masters degree from Germany is world wide acclaimed and acknowledged.

The cost of education in Germany is very less as compare to UK and US.

To pursue MS in Germany, you need to have:

Good academic record, preferably 65%-70% plus in graduation.
Relevant undergraduate degree from recognized university.
    GRE score of 1200-1300 plus.
TOEFL score of 85-90 plus or IELTS score of 6-7 bands plus.

The average living cost per month in Germany is around 500 euros to 600 euros per month, please note the living expenses might be more or less depending on the location and your life style.

Since Germany is a non English speaking country, and their national language is German, so it is always advisable for students to pursue some basic level German language course before leaving for Germany.

Find below some of the universities offering masters in electronics and related fields.

    Hamburg University of Technology.
Technical University of Darmstadt (University of Technology)
    RWTH Aachen University.
